When you clicked on this link, you already made up your mind to start changing your future. You have made the amazing decision to take your life to the next level.

You want to help other, you got something to say, or you have a great product or service to share with the world? Don’t think twice! Let’s get you started on your journey as a blogger!

But, before you start this amazing journey, let me give you a little inside knowledge. Even though blogging is a great way to start making some extra money, it is not a get rich quick scheme. So if fast money making is all you are after (reality check) you will not come very far.

With that said, if you want to make a difference in people’s lives or help people while staying true to yourself by providing products or services, you can be very successful in this business.

It is lots of hard work and hours of keeping up and staying ahead of people because every blogger in this great community has something amazing to tell you and everyone is unique and has his own twist on things.

It can be challenging to constantly write new blogs while also ensuring that your readers are engaged and you are not just re-writing something a thousand other people have already said, but don’t get discouraged, thinking “I have nothing special to say” or “I’m not unique enough.” WRONG!! Even if there are ten thousand recipes for chocolate cake out there, you will put in your special ingredient and BOOM!! You have created a group of people that love your chocolate cake more than the 9,999 other recipes out there.

I guess my point is, everyone has something to say, but only you can say it from your point of view. You will be amazed at how many people out there see the world the way you do and are just waiting for someone to put it into words for them.

So, if you are not planning to retire off the money from your first blog post and you aren’t afraid of a little hard work; if you want to make a difference in people’s lives, then let’s take ten minutes to get your website off the ground and get you blogging!

You need the best and most affordable startup option there is. Since money is tight or you would not consider doing this I put together a perfect plan for you.

So how do you get a website? First, you need to get a self-hosted domain. Mine is because I bought my name and self-hosted it, which means it is 100% my own website.

This is my first big point. You need to self-host your website. This is the only way you have full control over your site and someday down the road, you want to make some money. This is the way to go.

I started mine at Their website is super easy to understand and they have incredible customer service that will help you in any way they can. It is really one of the best platforms out there with the best price out there. (especially if your budget is tight)

Bluehost will let you self-host your website for $3.95 per month and it includes a free domain for the first year as long as you buy hosting for 12 months, which… I would definitely do since this business is a growing process anyway and you want to make money off your site.

So, all you have to do is click this special link of mine (this will give you a very good discount!) so you can get set up in less than 10 min to start creating your website and get to the fun part of things.

Here is the link:

What I do recommend is going for the “Basic” plan at this point. Since you are just starting out and this is all you need at first.

Ok, now is the time to pick your domain, really but some thought into it. You don’t want to change this again in a month. I went with my name, since this leaves my option wide open in which direction I want to go in and what I want to write about. But if you already know what niche you want to be in, like food or health, your domain name should include something that will give the reader an idea of what he can expect before he will click on your website.( like “The Doctor’s Corner” or “The Foodologist”.)

After you thought about what your domain name/brand will be, make sure this domain name is still available. If that is a go, make sure you also have an email address that will go along with it. You can create this email for free on Yahoo, GmX or any other email provider of your choosing.

Ok, next you set up your Bluehost account and make the payment for the first year. You are almost there…

Guess what? BOOM you have your BLOG!!!

After you have used my great discount to set up your Bluehost account and you have your domain, it is time to connect to WordPress. This is the where all the fun happens.

You Pick out your Theme and create your logo.

My starter Theme was a basic one provided by WordPress for no cost. You can later upgrade to a Theme that better fits your needs but I would recommend spending as little as possible setting up your blog in the beginning.

Canvas helped me create my logo and all my cover fronts for Pinterest, IG, and Facebook and the best part is, they have free versions that look amazing. Also, I strongly recommend taking and using your own pictures. Don’t use google images because “they” will find out and get you for plagiarism. If you are simply hopeless with a camera, you can use free pictures from Canvas or other sites. You can also buy photos from other bloggers or photographers. I usually use my phone to take pictures then edit the photo with an APP, like Lightroom, to give the pictures a more professional touch.

Before you hit the go-live button. Create some content. I would recommend 2 great written blog Posts for every category you have in your menu bar. It is more about the quality than the quantity at this point.

For your, “About Me” section, make sure it is original, interesting, and makes the reader come back for more. The “About Me” section is the most clicked-on of your website. So, go and click around and hit up some different bloggers with lots of followers to get an idea of what you need for your “About Me” page. For the start, you can look at mine right here: CorinaTime/aboutme

You want to do everything on the legal side. So make sure you let your readers know that you work with affiliate links or that you don’t use their info for anything else if they subscribe for your email list. This is my “Policy” section: CorinaTime/privacypolicy . You can add and change this but you want to make sure you have one. Again, I would just recommend reading some privacy policies from fellow bloggers to get an idea of what you want to put in yours.

I hope I have been able to help you get a good start with your blog. Don’t get discouraged by all the bloggers out there in your niche. Everyone is unique and there are people out there that are just waiting to read the content in your great blog posts. And remember, blogging is a process. It will take a little time before everyone knows your name, but I can’t wait to see what you can do!!!

Please feel free to contact me and give me some updates on how you are doing and with any questions you have about blogging. I will respond as soon as possible.
